SCHEF Dress Code Policy

The following dress code is for all SCHEF members participating in SCHEF co-op days and all events sponsored by SCHEF (students and parents/guardians). As a Christian organization, we have the responsibility to set a Godly example as well as an opportunity to be a “light unto the world” in both conduct and dress.

Modesty: Our clothing should be modest. This means that our body parts are not emphasized or exposed and our dress does not draw attention to our bodies.

Guidelines for CO-OP Day, field trips and events:

  • The length of shorts, skirts, and dresses should be fingertip length or longer. (This means that when your arms are relaxed at your side, the length of the piece of clothing extends past your fingertips.) Dresses should not show any cleavage and the back should not be lower than the middle of the back.
  • Lower garments worn by students must be secured at the waist and not show any undergarments.
  • Shirts must be long enough to not show any midriff. Sleeveless shirts may be allowed if the arm opening doesn’t reveal the student’s body or underwear, and fabric covers the shoulder from the base of the neck to the top of the shoulder or arm. Sleeveless shirts and tank tops must cover the entire torso, including the chest and ribcage.
  • Shirts should not show any cleavage and the back should not be lower than the middle of the back.
  • Each person will dress in conformance with one’s biological sex.

Guidelines for field day and special events:

  • Field day and special events may include water activities. A one-piece swimsuit with fingertip length shorts and a dark shirt is appropriate for girls. Swim trunks and a shirt is appropriate for boys.

Guidelines for Graduation (senior, 8th grade, kindergarten):

  • Young ladies are to wear a modest dress that does not have a shear fabric or show the midriff. The front of the dress should not show any cleavage and the back should not be lower than the middle of the back. The length of the dress should be knee length or longer. Dress shoes can be sling backs, pumps, or flats/ballet style that match the occasion. The shoes should be modest in color and height. No flip flops or crocs.
  • Young men are to wear dress slacks, dress shirts tucked in, tie, and dress shoes. No flip flops or crocs.

Swimwear:

  • We believe that it is the responsibility of each parent to decide what appropriate swimwear is for their own children. Therefore SCHEF does not sponsor beach trips, swim parties, water parks, etc. If parents would like to host such events, they are asked to do so personally and not as part of SCHEF.

Discipline:

  • SCHEF reserves the right to ask a student to change clothes or remove the student from co-op day or any other event sponsored by SCHEF if the above guidelines are not followed.

  • Members are responsible for their invited guests to agree and abide by the dress code.
