MEET THE BOARD

Presidents Josh & Julia Rogers

Julia and Josh have been married for 20 years. After much prayer and fasting they began their home education journey in 2016. They have 2 children together and have successfully graduated their oldest child. Josh is an Elevator Mechanic, and Julia has been blessed as a stay-at-home mother. They are excited to assist SCHEF in its growth and preserve the hard work and dedication that those before them have poured into this wonderful community.

They are responsible for the overall functioning of the organization, including presiding over general and board meetings. They oversee the work done by individuals or organizations whose services are contracted by SCHEF, (i.e. Co-Op Teachers) and represent SCHEF to all outside entities in the community. They also work clo with the Treasurer in the disbursement of funds.  

 

 

 

 

 

 Vice Presidents - John and Gail Nogueras

 John and Gail have been married for 28 years and have 6    children, all of which have been homeschooled and involved in SCHEF. John is the Family Care Pastor at Redemption Church and graduated from NOBTS with degrees in Non-Licensure Counseling and Chaplaincy. Gail runs her own business selling natural alternatives to skin care products and magnesium products. Gail also works as the secretary at Northshore Baptist Church. 5 of their children have finished school and have entered the workforce or college. John and Gail look forward to serving you on the board of SCHEF to help equip you in your homeschooling journey.

As Vice Presidents, they function as the President when he/she is unable to carry out a given responsibility and other such duties as assigned by the President. They are responsible for new-comer orientation, new member packets, new program development, publicity and member directory.

 

 

 

 

 

Treasurers- Mat & Kassie Wilson

  Mat & Kassie have been married since 2013 and have two children. They began homeschooling in August 2020 when they're children were in Kindergarten. They joined SCHEF in 2023 for their children's 2nd grade year. Their family attends Journey Fellowship Church in Slidell. They both are active in their church helping out in various volunteer positions. Mat is a Fire Captain with a local district. He has worked as a Firefighter since 2014. Kassie works as a Supervisor for A2i, LLC and the Office Administrator for The Jump Off.

The Treasurers are responsible for maintaining SCHEF's financial records, paying bills for the organization, and purchasing necessary materials and equipment. They also prepare the annual budget. 

 

 

 

 

 

Secretaries - Ken and Koni Maat

Ken and Koni have been married since 1985, and have four adult biological children. In 2014, God allowed them to adopt a daughter from China. She is now 14.  They also have 5 grandchildren.  Ken serves as the Campus Pastor at Journey Fellowship Church and Koni is part of the Creative Team there.  Their family’s homeschool journey began in 2020 and has been a great experience.  They are huge advocates for SCHEF and homeschooling in general and are excited to come alongside the other board members and homeschool families to help this wonderful organization continue to prosper and grow.

They are responsible for maintaining SCHEF's website and calendar. The secretary also takes notes during the BOARD meetings. 

 

 

 

 

 

Academic Advisors - Ed and Amanda Braithwaite

Ed and Amanda have been married for 21 years and have 4 children. Ed is a Computer Scientist for the US Naval Research Laboratory with a Master of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Arts in Christian Education and Amanda has a bachelor's degree in education. They have been homeschooling for 7 years and enjoy the family atmosphere that SCHEF offers. They are excited to share this journey with other families and pray that the upcoming school year is blessed!

 

They are responsible for coordinating academic enrichment programs, such as but not limited to Core Co-Op Classes, Testing-April, Resource Library, Junior and Senior Geography Club, Science/Social Studies Fair, Art Fair, 4-H, Parent Workshops, and Field Trips.
